BABYMONSTER’s New Album is an Enchanting Auditory Experience

BABYMONSTER, the popular YG Entertainment girl group, released their highly anticipated first full-length album DRIP, on November 1, 2024 — and it’s filled with infectious genre offerings.

Cohesively, the album is an immersive genre-fusing body of work that showcases the group's versatility through a mix of English, Korean, and Japanese lyrics to forge a universal pop experience that appeals to a global audience. And while there’s a handful of worthwhile tracks that stand on their own, the two strongest examples of the group’s impeccable skills stem from "CLIK CLAK" and "DRIP.”

"CLIK CLAK" is an energetic rap cut that features the group's powerhouse vocalists showcasing their expansive, rapid-fire rap skills. The song's catchy hook, "Click-clack, heels tap, walkin' with my hips back," is accompanied by a stylish black-and-white music video that perfectly embodies the group's hip-hop influence. The track's lyrics celebrate confidence and luxury, with members boasting about their lavish lifestyles and undeniable style.

"DRIP", on the other hand, is a dynamic dance track that blends elements of hip-hop, EDM, and pop. Co-produced by K-pop icon G-Dragon, the song features powerful, nostalgic K-pop beats and various bass deviations that offer a calmer alternative to its assertive counterpart “CLIK CLAK.” Additionally, the music video for "Drip" shows the members of BABYMONSTER making a splash as they set up outside a record store and start a dance party, further emphasizing the track's high-energy vibe.

Beyond the standout tracks, DRIP offers a diverse range of musical styles. The album includes the acoustic cut "Love, Maybe", which provides a richly textured, emotional side of the group. "Billionaire" on the other hand, is an R&B, Y2K-esque track sung entirely in English, adding to the album's eclectic mix.

With its genre-blending tracks and impressive production, BABYMONSTER's DRIP is already poised to make a significant impact on the K-pop scene and beyond. Check out the music video for the group’s latest single “CLIK CLAK” below.
