Universal Pictures Drops the First How to Train Your Dragon Teaser
The beloved animated film How to Train Your Dragon is set to take flight once again, this time as a live-action remake.
Directed by Dean DeBlois, who co-directed the original animated film, this new version promises to bring the magical world of Berk and its dragons to life in a whole new way. And after plenty of hype, Universal Pictures has finally dropped the first official teaser trailer for the film, revealing a shot-for-shot reimagining of the 2010 animated hit.
The teaser trailer gives fans a glimpse of Hiccup, played by Mason Thames, and Toothless, the Night Fury dragon, as they embark on their epic journey. The film stays true to the original storyline, with Hiccup defying his father, Stoick the Vast, reprised by Gerard Butler, by befriending a dragon instead of killing it. The bond between Hiccup and Toothless becomes the key to saving both Vikings and dragons from an ancient threat.
The live-action remake features a star-studded cast, including Thames as Hiccup, Nico Parker as Astrid, Gerard Butler as Stoick the Vast, Nick Frost as Gobber the Belch, Julian Dennison as Snotlout, Gabriel Howell as Fishlegs, Bronwyn James as Ruffnut, Harry Trevaldwyn as Tuffnut, Ruth Codd as Valka, Peter Serafinowicz as Spitelout, and Murray McArthur as Eret.
The teaser has already sparked excitement and anticipation among fans, who are eager to see how the live-action adaptation will bring their favorite characters and moments to life. Though, considering the success of the animated trilogy, including four Oscar nominations and over $1.6 billion at the global box office, expectations are definitely high for this live-action adaptation.
The upcoming live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon is slated for theatrical release on June 13, 2025 — so get ready to embark on a magical adventure with Hiccup and Toothless once again.
