While specific plot details are still being kept under wraps, the film (helmed by Waves and It Comes at Night filmmaker Trey Edward Shults) is described as a character-driven thriller exploring themes of love, obsession, and the pursuit of success. At the center of the film is Tesfaye, who portrays a “fictionalized version of himself, pulled into an existential odyssey by a mysterious stranger.”

The involvement of Shults, known for his emotionally resonant and often unsettling narratives, suggests a film that will delve deep into the psyches of its characters. The pairing of Tesfaye and Ortega, both known for their captivating on-screen presence, adds another layer of intrigue, hinting at a dynamic and potentially volatile relationship at the heart of the story.

Hurry Up Tomorrow (produced by Kevin Turen, Harrison Kreiss, Reza Fahim, and Tesfaye) is currently slated for a theatrical release on May 16, 2025—and with the combination of its star power and intriguing premise, Hurry Up Tomorrow is already earning its hype as a highly anticipated addition to the thriller genre.
