I Know What You Did Last Summer | Sony Pictures

Cast and Creative Team

The current cast features several new and talented industry names, including Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Jonah Hauer-King, Sarah Pidgeon, and Tyriq Withers. Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Lola Tung, Austin Nichols, and Gabbriette have also signed on to the project — along with Freddie Prinze Jr. who is set to reprise his iconic role as Ray Bronson from the first two installments. While there has been much speculation about the return of Jennifer Love Hewitt and Brandy Norwood, their involvement has yet to be officially confirmed, but there’s still plenty of time…

Jennifer Kaytin Robinson was tapped to direct the film, which is based on a script by Leah McKendrick and an idea jointly developed by Robinson and McKendrick. Neal H. Moritz will produce the Sony Pictures project.

Plot

The plot details for the third official installment of I Know What You Did Last Summer remain under wraps, but it is expected to continue the thrilling and suspenseful narrative that the franchise is known for. The original film follows four young friends bound by a tragic accident who are stalked by a hook-wielding killer in their small seaside town.

Given its sequel status, we also know that a deadly secret (and as it has been confirmed, social media) will heavily influence the story this time around, building on the legacy of the franchise while simultaneously introducing fresh elements to captivate a new generation of horror enthusiasts.

Expected Release Date

With the film’s cast and creative team selected, the film is likely heading into production soon — especially considering that it’s been given a release date on July 18, 2025.
